Is It Possible to Get New Teeth in a Day?

Teeth in a Day Chicago, IL

If you have heard of dental implants, it is possible you might have come across the Teeth in a Day system. This type of dental implant technique allows the patient to have new, beautiful and functional teeth in just one day. Teeth in a Day is in direct contrast to the traditional dental implant method that has patients wait months before full restoration.

How does Teeth in a Day work?

Teeth in a Day uses similar materials as regular dental implants, but the attention to detail and the high quality of components enables immediate placement of a temporary, fully functional crown in the same sitting. There are three parts to a Teeth in a Day implant: The post (a screw-like artificial tooth root), the abutment (the connector between post and restoration) and the crown (the visible part of the implant that is shaped like a tooth). Like conventional implants, Teeth in a Day requires sedation to complete the surgery.

Initial consultation

In an initial consultation, the cosmetic dentist will perform a full examination of the oral cavity. This includes identifying any gum disease and if there is sufficient bone left in the jaw for successful implant placement. A good candidate will have enough bone volume in the space left by the missing tooth or teeth. An ideal candidate will also have good oral health and overall health. Any gum disease or oral issues will need to be treated before implant surgery.

Implant procedure

Once it has been determined that your Teeth in a Day procedure will move forward, a second appointment will be made. At this second appointment, your new implants are inserted into the jaw and a temporary, fully-functional crown is placed on top.

Before Teeth in a Day implant surgery, the patient is administered an anesthetic. The appointment usually takes about two hours from start to finish, including preparing the area, surgically placing the implant and fitting the temporary artificial tooth or teeth.

These temporary teeth can be used as you would your natural teeth. The dentist may recommend putting you on a diet of softer foods to avoid irritation in the first few days. There may be some minor discomfort after surgery, as the area still needs to heal. Any pain or swelling will be temporary. Although the teeth will be slightly uncomfortable while the mouth adjusts, they will immediately appear natural for aesthetic purposes.

Multiple tooth replacement

If there are multiple missing teeth directly next to each other, your Teeth in a Day implant can be combined with other appliances (like a bridge) to extend the reach of the implant to a few teeth. For adults missing all teeth, four to six implants can be placed into each jaw to hold a full arch of prosthetic teeth.

Whether you need a single tooth, multiple teeth or all teeth replaced, there are instantly beautiful options for you with Teeth in a Day. Your new Teeth in a Day will allow you to eat, speak, smile, laugh and live confidently, and without having to worry about the way your teeth look or feel.
