Options for Dental Implants

Back in the days when cosmetic dentistry was first starting, dental bridges and dentures were the only choices for replacing missing or decayed teeth. With advancement and innovations over recent years, patients now have better and more suitable options, including dental implants. Dental implants are safe, resilient, comfortable options for people who require artificial teeth to substitute missing or decayed teeth permanently.

The dentist usually fixes dental implants months after initial tooth removal. In some cases, they may adjust the implant immediately after a tooth extraction. This attempt is a bit riskier but makes the procedure faster and easier, and means you do not have to book another appointment to have the implants installed.

If you have bone infections or other bone issues, the dentist will delay the replacement procedure. Sometimes, bone graft surgery may be required to support the dental implant.

Available Dental Implant Options

The patient’s requirement typically determines the options for dental implants to adopt. The three main options of dental implants are:

Single Tooth Replacement: If you are missing only one tooth, the single tooth implant is the best option to fill the undesirable space. The process is so easy and effective that you should have a replacement similar to the old one in a couple of months.

Multiple Teeth Replacement: You can also get dental implants if you are missing more than one tooth. It does not matter if the missing teeth are random or set together. The dentist may place individual crowns on the dental implants or design a stable dental bridge. Both options produce comfortable and natural looking teeth.

Entire Teeth Replacement: When all of the teeth have to be replaced with implants, the procedure is called a full arch dental implant. It could be the entire lower or upper teeth or both. The idea of having all the teeth may seem petrifying at first, but it is similar to replacing one tooth and just as comfortable.

The options available for tooth implants are not limited to those mentioned above. Recently we have witnessed the introduction of advanced implant technologies that are compatible with all types of patients, regardless of the number of missing teeth. The available options are:

Mini Dental Implants

This option requires the dentist to use mini screws for the implant. The procedure is much less invasive than the conventional implant method. The goal of this implant is to give steadiness in soft bone.

Basic Dental Implant

Basic Dental Implant goes a step further to make the procedure easier and much more comfortable. It attempts to make the dental implant process possible for dentists who want to include the option in their practice.

Noble Biocare

These implants are manufactured by Noble Biocare Company and are regarded as highly innovative among the currently available dental implants. The level of comfort and stability offered by this option makes them the best choice for patients of all ages, especially seniors. It is very safe and natural looking.
