What Is the Teeth in a Day Process?

Teeth in a Day Chicago, IL

The innovative technique of Teeth in a Day is changing the face of tooth replacement. Traditional implants can require a period of months (up to one year) to use your new teeth, but with Teeth in a Day, the waiting period is removed from the equation.

If you are considering dental implants, ask your dentist about how Teeth in a Day can provide you instantly beautiful results.

The Teeth in a Day process

Initial consultation

Before receiving your new, natural-looking teeth, an initial consultation appointment is required to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure. At this consultation, our team of dentists will work with the patient to help create a customized treatment plan. The dentist will also detail the costs for the procedure, as the cost can vary according to the individual case.

Examination

The next step is a pre-procedure examination of the oral cavity. After the initial consultation, the patient will then meet with a prosthodontist (a dentist that specializes in dental prostheses, also known as artificial teeth) who will work to finalize the treatment plan. The prosthodontist will work with the dentist to examine the mouth, looking for signs of gum disease and other issues. If there are any dental or oral problems, they will need to be treated before the implant procedure.

Implant procedure

At your Teeth in a Day implant procedure, the dentist will place the implant posts into the predetermined space or spaces. For multiple teeth, the dentist may use appliances like bridges (false teeth that are anchored by existing teeth or implants) to cover more teeth if the patient does not wish to receive multiple implant posts. A temporary prosthetic tooth or teeth will be placed on the implant while the customized teeth are being fabricated in the lab.

In one sitting, you will have natural-looking, beautiful teeth that function like natural teeth.

After the procedure

Caring for your Teeth in a Day is similar to maintaining natural teeth. The area may be slightly uncomfortable after the appointment for the first few days. To reduce any swelling that may occur, place a cold compress directly onto the outer cheek. Over-the-counter pain medication like ibuprofen can help alleviate any mild or moderate pain while also reducing inflammation. Try not to use aspirin, as it can cause bleeding at the surgery site.

Eating soft foods will limit the pressure put on the implant and accelerate healing time. In this recovery period of about three weeks, stock your pantry with applesauce, yogurt, mashed potatoes and other soft foods. Avoid spicy foods as well, as they can irritate the incision site.

Aesthetically, the teeth will appear completely natural and the patient will be able to smile, speak and laugh with ease. The patient will then attend several post-procedure checkups to make sure the implant is healing correctly.

Finally, the permanent teeth are ready. The final step in the process. The dentist will carefully place the new prosthetic tooth or teeth on the implant posts and test the fit.
